Today's Work: Man VS Ashcloud.
“I am a hero and the man who will defeat the Ash cloud that is coming. So far I have not had a chance to prove my heroic qualities, natural disasters tend not to occur under my jurisdiction, but now I promise you will see what I can do.”
Ashley Vice…to most insignificant, but in his own mind man of the hour. The long years of waiting were finally over and by defeating the Ash Cloud that had brought the air ways to a standstill Ashley could finally receive the praise he deserved. As the Ash Cloud floats over Scotland he makes his way North. “Hadrians wall” that is where I make my stand, this far and no further Ash Cloud.”
However when Lola finds his note she is desperately upset. “What does that fool think he is doing…doesn’t he know that I’m in love with the Ash cloud.” It’s hard to imagine falling in love with a cloud of volcanic ash but when something that big is headed towards you then you begin to reassess your priorities. Lola knew that the Ash had fought it’s way from beneath the glacier just to be with her. How foolish to be head over heals for a cloud of ash you hadn’t even met, she knew it might never be, but she loved that ashcloud more than any woman has ever loved any ashcloud.
As for the Ash Cloud it felt nothing, it was a cloud of Ash.
“I’m warning you to leave this place” Ashley yelled up to the Ash cloud, it’s only response was to continue slowly moving forward. His plan wasn’t working and Ashley knew it, there had to be something else…some other way. Why after all he had gone through could he not stop the ash cloud!? He tried to grab for the ash cloud but no matter how high he got hit remained out of reach…intangible. Almost imaginary. “Dammit this Ash cloud is’nt just clouding the sky…it’s clouding my MIND”. I have been a hero all my life with all that it entails, I must be able to stop it.”
Lola runs over the hill “Ashley no…you can’t stop the Ash Cloud. Don’t you understand you ARE THE ASH CLOUD.”
Was this a trick? No it all made perfect sense. No wonder he couldn’t harm the ash cloud, it was part of him. “What can I do then?” “Why is this happening!?” He breaks down. “I thought I was the hero…but I was the villain.”
“You fool! You can be the hero, just forget about the Ash Cloud…let it go.” Ashley finally understood, looking up he saw the Ash cloud slowly move on…it was out of his life for good. Lola had also realised that a relationship with the personification of an Ash cloud might well be more practical that a relationship with an actual Ash Cloud. It’s very rare that Ash Cloud’s ever find steady employment and it would have been difficult knowing how to raise the children.
As for the Ash Cloud it continued on it’s journey.
