Dear Renegade
I was thrilled to hear that someone is finally making a thoughtful and warm film about pregnancy, too many times in the past this subject has been treated in a despicable manner by the “male dominated media” I have heard so much about.
I mean the other day I saw this program where a woman gave birth on a pool table for god sake! All these men were stood round looking at her and she wasn’t even given a sheet to cover up her nakedness. The woman that was helping her was wearing a kind of nurses uniform I haven’t seen before and she kept shouting things at the woman that I wouldn’t consider very encouraging such as “Return lord and master” and “The new age begins.” I don’t recall anyone ever mentioning anything like that in antenatal classes. Even worse when the baby was born it was put inside a cut in half barrel lined with straw and one of the men started kissing the woman in a highly charged manner. I can only hope it was the baby’s father! (Although another man joined in so they couldn’t both have been.) As well both these men had very peculiar tattoos which probably wouldn’t do a developing mind any good, I never heard of a lizard doing anything like that but it certainly made me more cautious and I’m 25. The whole thing was nothing short of a disgrace, I mean what if someone came in wanting a game of pool?
Anyway as a pregnant woman I would love to be involved in your documentary film to try and set the record straight. I think people tend to look at a pregnant woman and immediately think “slut” and this is wrong. Granted they’ve probably definitely had sex but it didn’t mean they enjoyed it, some of them might not have even consented. Hopefully together we can make a better world for my as yet unborn child.
Peace Out

Your name: Sophie De Latouche
Your age: 25
Your phone number: 01525 854 222
The area you live: The Hyde, Luton
Your current relationship situation? (married/single/ living with partner etc):
I currently live with my partner Morris Baldwin. I would like to marry him and have asked him several times but he claims that “all sacraments are a sham in a world where evil still exists.” I did ask him about having just a registry office wedding or something but he told me that God could still see the registry office.
Please could you also tell us a little about your current situation:
- What stage are you at in your pregnancy?
I am about 7 months which in Mario World would probably be the Vanilla Ghost house.
- When is your due date?
September 11th (Unlucky I know, but I don’t really believe a plane will crash into the clinic despite what Morris Baldwin says.)
- Is this your first pregnancy? Do you already have children?
Yes this will be my first unless you count eating some meat and imagine you are pregnant with the animal. i.e. baby chicken, which is ridiculous really as chickens come from eggs although it would explain which came first.
- Was your pregnancy planned? (Please explain)
As far as I was concerned it was unplanned and I hadn’t even really thought about children. However when I told Morris Baldwin I was pregnant he didn’t appear even a little shocked, in fact he sort of rubbed his hands together and said “Its all falling into place”. If I’m honest I’m still not really sure what to make of that.
- What type of birth do you plan to have and where? (Natural, c-section, water/home birth etc) Why have you made this decision?
Together with Yardy Kinsale my spiritual herbologist, I have made a birth plan that will fit in with the harmonic frequencies of the world. This involves using many circles of protection instead of pain killers and other harmful drugs. Yardy Kinsale says that once the circles have been drawn they will reduce damage to me from any source to zero. Yardy will also make representations on behalf of the baby to the fates Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos to try and negotiate a good long thread of life. In return we will offer the placenta up to them by cooking it into a meal which Yardy Kinsale will consume while wearing ceremonial plant based eye-liner. Of course a traditional hospital is too narrow minded to allow this sort of practice and also they say the chanting may disturb other patients. Therefore I will be having the baby in the same place it was conceived, a private clinic just outside Wakefield run by Yardy Kinsale.
- Who do you plan to have with you at the birth?
Well as previously stated Yardy Kinsale will be there, Morris Baldwin also insists he will be there partly for moral support and partly because he thinks someone will try to steal the baby. In a way everyone will be there though as we plan to record the birth and put it on youtube. This will give the baby something good to look back on when it is older and starts asking questions about where babies come from. (We filmed the conception for similar reasons, although it was taken down from youtube because we had the batman album on in the background and prince has forbidden any of his songs to appear on youtube.).
- Have you started preparing for the birth? (Attending classes / reading books/ treatments etc)
I have bought the complete works of Nietzsche on tape and intend to play them through my stomach to the baby in the hopes that it will get over its existential crisis before it is actually born. (Apparently a baby that recognises truth as a concept rather than an absolute will be easier to give birth to and sleep through the night.)
- Are there any parts of your life that you have had to change/give up as a result of being pregnant?
Well Morris Baldwin says I am no longer allowed negative thoughts as they might go through the umbilical cord and turn the baby evil in “thoughts and appearance.” This means I am no longer allowed to watch Don Bluth films and must always smile even if I don’t feel like it. My face does hurt a little but I know I’m doing it for the baby – anything else would be pure selfishness.
- Finally, where/how did you hear about the programme? (Please specify)
I heard about it from my friend Lynn Aarden who is also pregnant but did not want to apply herself as she thought you might try to film the birth. (As a scientologist she doesn’t think any technology should be around, crazy I know!)

Hi there,
Many thanks for getting in touch and taking the time to tell us a bit more about yourself, it was lovely to hear from you.
As we are looking to feature a wide range of women for this show, who are from all walks of life and have made different decisions with regards to their pregnancies, it is absolutely invaluable to us to hear from women like yourself so that we can get a good idea of the cross-section of women out there – so we’re really very grateful for your time.
As you may well be able to imagine, it’s going to take us some time to get through all the responses we are receiving so we really appreciate your patience whilst we do this. Unfortunately we will not be able to call everyone who has got in touch with us, but if we are keen to talk to you more about the programme we will be getting in touch again during the next few weeks.
If you don’t hear from us then thank you again for your time and interest and we’d like to take this chance to wish you all the best with your pregnancy and beyond.
Kind regards,
The Baby Team
